Project Part 1- Learning Goals

The first step in creating a unit for your classroom is always ALWAYS determine what your learning goals will be. No activity based lessons for us!

1) Go to http://doe.sd.gov/contentstandards/index.asp and find the unpacked standards for the grade and content area you plan to teach. (*elementary- choose a content area to plan a unit for.)

2) Read through your standards and choose two or three you will cover in your unit.

3) Read the "unpacked" skills and keywords for the standards and develop a list of narrower learning goals for your unit. If your grade/content does not have unpacked standards you can use http://www.mcrel.org/compendium/browse.asp as a reference for breaking down your standards into learning goals/objectives.

*Learning goals should start with "Students will be able to..."
*Learning goals should include a measurable verb, see this document for examples.

4) Post your unit learning goals somewhere on your website

Have your learning goals posted to your site by Tuesday February 15th at 7pm so I can give you feedback before Wednesday.
